Advent calendars are used to "count down" the days till Christmas. What makes Advent calendars different from a regular calendar is it does not follow "the 7 days " of the week, but instead, starts with box or door #1 and proceeds incrementally to the 25th - Christmas - regardless of the day of the week the holiday falls on. It is believed that advent calendars were first used by German Lutherans in the 19th century, and nowadays, many Christians utilize them to assist youngsters with the concept of time or days till Christmas.

This Advent calendar mimics one I had as a youngster, with Christmas decor on the top and 25 individual cubes inside a shadow box. The calendar has built-in animation (accessed via the calendar's "perform" menu) to open/close each individual box.



Also included with the pack are candies & trinket toys that can be placed in the box(es) that you will have your avatar open. There are 4 different candy items & 4 different trinket toys. Of course, you can put any item you have in your inventory inside the cubes, provided you scale it accordingly.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS:

In order for the trinket or candy placed in a box to move with the box, you must follow these simple steps:

1. Bring the Advent Calendar into your scene. Determine WHICH box(es) you will be animating. (you only wants to place items in the cubes you are actually going to have your avatar open - placing something in every box will be extremely taxing on system resources).

2. Bring trinkets/candies into the scene (the # used should correspond with the # of boxes you plan to animate).

3. Move the trinket/candy item into the desired box. Once in place, select that trinket/candy in your Scene Manager, then in the modify panel, in the "Attach" section, click on "Pick Parent", then click on the corresponding individual box in your scene. In the box above the "Pick Parent" button, it should list the exact cube # - IF IT DOESN'T - just click on the small square with the 3 dots and scroll through the list of cubes and select the corresponding cube # & click "OK".

4. Now that your trinket or candy is attached to the cube, select the Advent Calendar in your Scene Manager, right click on it in the scene window, select "perform" and scroll through to find the correct box number and select it - & Viola, the box will open revealing the trinket or candy inside!
