To the question of whether Napoleon Bonaparte was as "muscular" as this representation... when we have the image of a rather paunchy character.
This free reproduction is based in part on a representation of the French emperor currently in the Louvre, and very obviously in "Roman" fashion... it's clear that the famous historical figure wanted his body to be idealized as much as possible, and that the muscular physique of his youth, when he was a simple officer fighting at the head of his troops, quickly became overweight as the years went by.
