The Iron Maiden iProp consists of the main body, two sub-props (one for each door) and many spike sub-props. This allows the opening and closing to be animated using regular iClone rotate functionality and the spike layout to be customized. The Spike sub-props can easily be added or removed to created the desired spike layout.
To animate the opening and closing of the iron maden, click on the left or right sub-prop and the use the regular iClone rotate function. The pivots on the sub-props have been set to accomodate this. Please note that in addition to the rotation around the Z-axis a slight rotation around the Y-axis is needed to keep the door from coming off the hinges (due to the tapered shape of the iron maiden). This is very easy to do as demonstarted in the video.
The Iron Maiden prop is lined so that different textures and/or bump maps can be applied to the outside and inside. When looking at the texture references for each of the Iron Maiden parts, it appears that large portions of the texture are not used. However, this is because the Iron Maiden has been implemented to use a single texture file. This means, for example, that when looking at the reference for just the right and left part the reference will show a lot of empty texture but when the reference for all components are combined almost all of the texture space is used. The spikes use their own texture and since each spike is its own sub-prop, spikes can use the same texture or different textures. In the video, for example, most spikes use the same texture but a few spikes use a bloodied texture intstead.
